A long kitchen and dining room opening onto a tropical garden — cooking as the centre of the house.

Challenge. Kitchens are often hidden. Here they had to be the most generous room, without losing craft or calm.

Design response. A dark stone island, open teak shelves, a timber table. The garden is the fourth wall.
